The Scope & Facets of the game are set by the Narrator.
How far, how fast, and how powerful a Hero can be are limited by the Scope of the game. Scope is an abstraction that sets the absolute maximum force, distance, and area of effect a Hero can apply through their most concentrated undistracted unencumbered application of their powers.
The Scope of the game is made up of Facets. Facets describe the typical amount of force, distance, and area of effect a Hero may apply their Powers to in the heat of the moment. Heroes may not create, destroy, lift, or control anything greater than what is described by the Facet of the game without time, effort, and favorable circumstances.
The syntax for writing down Scope and Facets is:
Name of Scope (Maximum Size/Mass, Maximum Distance)
The Name of the Scope is also the Facet of Maximum sensory distance.
Example Scope (Facets):
Streets (Truck, City Block) – A Hero could create, destroy, lift, anything with roughly the mass of a truck. A Hero could mind control or blast all targets visible, roughly across the dimensions of a single city block. A Hero could remotely sense across several Streets away.
City (Apartment building, Several City Blocks) – A Hero could create, destroy, lift, anything with roughly the mass of an apartment building. A Hero could mind control or blast all targets visible, roughly across the dimensions of several city block. A Hero could remotely sense across the entirety of a major metropolis.
World (Continent) – A Hero could create, destroy, lift, anything with roughly the mass of a continent. A Hero could mind control or blast all targets visible, roughly across the dimensions of an entire continent. A Hero could remotely sense across the entirety of the earth.
World (Jumbo Jet, Several City Blocks) – A hero could create, destroy, lift, anything with roughly the mass of a jumbo jet. A hero could mind control or blast all targets visible, roughly across the dimensions of several city blocks. A Hero could remotely sense across the entirety of the earth.
